In honour of the late Michele Pedercini MBA’92J, INSEAD has launched a fundraising campaign to establish a new scholarship for Italian students in the MBA programme.
The school created the campaign for the Michele Pedercini MBA’92J Scholarship for Italian Talents in partnership with two other organisations: Intesa Sanpaolo, the Italian banking group where Michele worked, and Fondazione Donor Italia, a philanthropic foundation based in Milan. Fondazione Donor Italia has a long history of working with the INSEAD Italian Alumni Association on their annual campaign.
The scholarship campaign is already off to a strong start, with INSEAD alumni and friends and Intesa Sanpaolo employees contributing €239,186 towards the goal of €400,000. Intesa Sanpaolo is also matching donations up to €3,000. INSEAD plans to grant the first scholarship—an award of €16,000—to an MBA student in September 2021.
The Michele Pedercini MBA’92J Scholarship for Italian Talents comes to INSEAD at an important time. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, scholarship requests at the school have increased 48% over the past year. For INSEAD, meeting this need is critically important. Scholarships support the school’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, reduce financial barriers for students, attract top talent from around the world and keep INSEAD globally competitive.
In addition to its relationship with INSEAD, Fondazione Donor Italia is a philanthropic partner of the Transnational Giving Europe (TGE). TGE unites large European philanthropic foundations to facilitate donations at an international level. As a beneficiary of TGE, INSEAD has established legal partnerships with foundations in 11 countries worldwide. This enables the school to raise funds while offering tax benefits to donors in accordance with their country’s regulations.
