Over the last few years we have seen a real peak in interest in the topic of women in leadership from INSEAD students, EDP clients and alumni. From the European Board quota debate to recent government initiatives in the Middle East to an exploding number of conferences and networking groups in Asia, the conversation about women and leadership has become truly global and therefore an opportunity for INSEAD to lead the way.

The recently launched Women@INSEAD site aims to keep members of the INSEAD community up to date with the latest news and research on women in leadership around the world, and encourages everyone to share ideas and projects. Find out more.

14 INSEAD case studies named among world’s very best-selling distributed by the case centre over past 40 years  
INSEAD has earned new distinction for the world-class caliber of its exemplary case-studio portfolio. According to the Case Centre, the top global organisation dedicated to promoting the case method in management education, INSEAD boasts six of the 10 best-selling cases distributed over the past 40 years and overall, INSEAD cases represented 14 of the Case Centre’s most popular knowledge products distributed. The Case Centre offers the best ranking of Business Schools in terms of case writing as it is based on sales. 2014 has only just begun and already our professors are pulling in the awards and recognition!
Professors W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne, co-directors of the INSEAD Blue Ocean Strategy Institute will be presented with the 2014 Carl S. Sloane Award for their innovative thinking and fresh perspectives that have redefined traditional approaches to strategy consulting. Their worldwide bestselling strategy book, Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make the Competition Irrelevant, has been published in a record-breaking 43 languages and sold over 3.5 million copies. The Carl S. Sloane Award for Excellence is awarded by the AMCF Board of Directors to a living person who has contributed substantially to the development of the consulting profession, either through leadership, the development of intellectual capital, innovation in consulting processes, value added to clients served, or a combination of the above.

Professor Hubert Gatignon was recently awarded the Distinguished Marketing Scholar Award by the European Marketing Academy (EMAC). This annual award is designed to be the highest honour that a marketing educator who has had extensive connections with EMAC can receive. Professor Gatignon is also the Claude Janssen Chaired Professor of Business Administration and Professor of Marketing.
Professor Gavin Cassar, along with Brian Cadman, won the Outstanding Paper Award for 2014 from the American Accounting Association. Their paper, “Explicit and Implicit Incentives: Longitudinal Evidence from NCAA Football Head Coaches Employment Contracts” won the award during the Association’s Midyear meeting. Professor Cassar is an Associate Professor of Accounting and Control whose research is centered primarily on the role of information, especially financial, in settings of high uncertainty and opacity.
Professor Theo Vermaelen, along with George Pennacchi and Christian Wolff have won Best Paper Award for 2014 at the 12th Eurasia Business and Economics Society conference held in Singapore. Their research was on the case for Call Option Enhanced Reverse Convertibles (COERCs). Professor Vermaelen is a Professor of Finance. He has also taught at the University of British Columbia, the Catholic University of Leuven, The London Business School, UCLA and the University of Chicago.
