Dear alumni,
For many years, INSEAD has distinguished itself through the very nature of its truly global and vibrant alumni community. Driven by the 46 National Alumni Associations, 6 Global Clubs and other grass roots initiatives, volunteer alumni organise more than 1000 events annually across the globe. The alumni come together under the umbrella of the International Alumni Association, chaired by its President. The IAA President represents the alumni’s interests with INSEAD, whilst helping the school to reinforce and strengthen its relationships with the global alumni community.
After a one-year extension, the term of the current IAA President, Sven Kado MBA’72, will be coming to an end within the coming year; consequently we are searching for a new IAA President.
Dean Ilian Mihov on the INSEAD Alumni Community
INSEAD’s position today as a leading school in the world was built as a result of the remarkable foresight, entrepreneurial spirit and values of our founders and alumni. Through the years, it is our common belief in INSEAD, and what it stands for, that has allowed us to realise our potential to make positive changes in the world.
One of my personal discoveries as Dean of INSEAD in the last nine months has been our amazing alumni community and their incredible engagement and passion for the School. The support of our alumni has always been instrumental in continuing to enhance our school’s ability to create value, and transform mind-sets and lives. We have over 4000 active volunteers supporting the school in different roles that range from Board members to interviewers and Reunion and Fund Volunteers.
As Dean, my aspiration is to take our school’s excellence and reputation even higher. But it is a joint enterprise that calls upon present students, faculty, staff and alumni. To quote Michel Gauthier MBA’61 and founder of the INSEAD Alumni Fund, “One thing is certain: the institute will be what the former students make of it, and they are determined to participate actively in improving it and making a name for it.”
Current IAA President, Sven Kado on the President’s role
Before I started as President, I had played an active role in the INSEAD community for many years. Still, I was very impressed with the extent and depth of the alumni communities in the different parts of the world and the enthusiasm of the volunteers to make all this happen – extending the great experience we had on campus to the experience of a lifetime. As passionate advocates of Alumni interests we launched initiatives that have contributed to further strengthening the global alumni community with the new Alumni Magazine, or Global INSEAD Day or the regional INSEAD Forums. In addition, in productive partnership with the school, we have made progress in improving the Alumni IT platform. First steps have been taken in the area of Life Long Learning – all alumni need it and our school has many of the deliverables!
The role of the IAA President is challenging, yet very rewarding. I can certainly recommend it to someone who wants to make a difference for the alumni and the school.
