Giving Day 2019: Setting New Records!

The INSEAD community came out in force for the third annual Giving Day, reaffirming their trust in the school and its mission

On 12 March 2019, 2,273 donors from 79 countries contributed €1,233,144 to support the school and its goals. This is a significant increase compared to €681,453 raised from 1,507 donors last year.

“We are grateful that so many alumni, students, faculty and staff participated and showed their support to INSEAD today,” says Ilian Mihov, Dean of INSEAD. “We are always stronger when we are together. This Giving Day, we proved that.”

The greatest proportion of the gifts received were allocated to the Dean’s Innovation Fund. This annual fund provides flexible financial resources that enables the school to act quickly on strategic needs such as attracting bright candidates who require financial aid, launching groundbreaking research projects and enabling field projects that enhance the student experience.

“It was a thrill to see my own amazing ‘09J classmates*, the Singapore alumni** and the larger INSEAD community come together this Giving Day. The signal is clear: we believe in our Dean’s vision.” – Virginia Brumby, MBA’09J

Getting our Hula on!
This Giving Day, INSEAD introduced the Hula. A vibrant circle representing the dynamic INSEAD community who are connected by their positivity, brilliance and passion for being a force for good.

It brought to life the character, spirit and values of the school in one graceful loop and was incorporated in Giving Day communications including virtual frames.

Alumni, faculty, staff and students got their Hula on with Facebook frames through March, amplifying the Giving Day message across their networks.

The challenges
This year’s Giving Day brought out INSEAD’s competitive spirit through diverse challenges amongst the various countries, classes and genders.

Maximum participation being the ultimate goal, the challenges served as a strong motivation for giving. Alumni, faculty, students and staff made their gifts and watched with excitement as the challenges were met and the images updated on the Giving Day website. The challenge encouraging female INSEADers to contribute was met within eight hours!

NAA challenges between countries created a fervent yet friendly competition amongst alumni. NAA UK came out a winner with maximum participation and NAA Singapore followed close behind. Countries including Canada, Japan, the Lebanon, Poland, the Philippines and the UAE doubled their number of donors from last year.

Eight hundred and eighty Young Alumni also came out in force to support the school.

The Board and The Volunteers

Volunteers from different factions of INSEAD including INSEAD Alumni Fund, INSEAD Alumni Association, National Alumni Associations, Young Alumni Initiative, students and Class and Reunion volunteers rallied and mobilised around Giving Day, allowing the school to reach the highest Giving Day results yet.

Participation
Giving Day 2019 saw 2,273 donors coming together to contribute to INSEAD’s future. Alumni and NAAs organised multiple events across the world to bring in Giving Day.

On-campus activities including photobooth, ice cream and a hula hoop challenge were also a hit!

Thank you!
Giving Day 2019 was an amazing success. The school is grateful for the support of the donors and their trust in INSEAD and its future endeavors.

“I believe that there has never a better time to support INSEAD. We have a visionary dean, a highly talented alumni community that has come of age and demographics that can actually move the needle.” – Emma Goltz MBA’98J, Chair, INSEAD Alumni Fund

As a reminder, all donations for Giving Day 2019 will also count towards reunion class gifts for 2019, the Robin Hood campaign and The Campaign for INSEAD: A Force for Good.
